Five people were injured Monday evening when a fire broke out inside a Capitol Hill apartment building. The fire started sometime after 5: 30 p.m. on the first floor of an apartment building in the 1500 block of Boylston Avenue East. Seattle firefighters arrived on scene moments later and quickly began rescuing occupants and putting water on the blaze.

Spokane's firefighters got a special Labor Day lunch on Monday, courtesy of Olive Garden, to thank them for all their hard work during this summer's busy fire season. It was an especially busy summer for the Spokane Fire Department. The city suffered its worst hazmat spill in more than a decade and crews battled countless fires across the state.
