House fire in Sunnyside destroys home; sends one firefighter to the hospital

Yakima firefighters responded to a house fire at 135 Hollis Lane in Sunnyside Monday night where flames spread to the attic. One firefighter went to the hospital for a hand injury. Fire crews contained the fire to the attic but water and smoke damaged the entire residence. A person who lived in the home told firefighters she heard a sound coming from the attic area, and walked outside to see what it was.

Wildfires take toll on Spokane fire equipment

With summer only about half way over, fire crews in Spokane have already done a full season's worth of repairs on their fleet with no end in sight. When it comes to a fire season like this one, there is absolutely no such thing as a low-key day for maintenance workers like John Koberstine. Asotin County firefighters have another tool to help protect lives and property

Asotin County firefighters take their training exercise to new heights. Crews learned the ins and outs, and importance, of a helicopter as another tool in the mission to protect lives and property. Pittsburgh backs off controversial decision to withhold Narcan from firefighters

Pittsburgh officials reversed course on a controversial decision Friday to take away a lifesaving opiate antidote from firefighters who often are among the first emergency personnel to respond to 911 calls. Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Stephen Bucar ordered fire officials to suspend issuing naloxone, known by the brand name Narcan, from fire trucks because the city paramedics union threatened to file a grievance, said Ralph Sicuro, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local No.

New Jersey town an keep old fire company's equipment, court says

A Gloucester County judge has sided with the borough's mayor and council in a lawsuit over the ownership of equipment in the town firehouse. The case, which was settled on Friday by Superior Court Judge Georgia M. Curio, decided the ownership of a wide array of items left in the firehouse after volunteers with the Newfield Volunteer Fire Co.
