VIDEO - A Tyler firefighter is on the mend after receiving minor burns while responding to a house fire sparked by lightning.
Tuesday evening, Tyler fire crews were dispatched to the 200 block of Dinah Lane around 7 p.m. after flames enveloped the home's garage.
The firefighter, whose name was not released, was moving a gas can away from the flames.

PHOTOS - The fire truck, with four firefighters inside, was rushing to a blaze. The paramedic truck, with three firefighters inside, was heading to the hospital with two young children and their grandmother.
The two red emergency vehicles, lights flashing and sirens blaring, crossed paths near Miami’s hospital district.

Family Promise of Spokane uses 12 local churches to house several families at night, rotating them from church to church each week. The problem is that most of those churches aren't set up to house people and don't meet the current fire code.
"We have an unblemished record of not only success but also safety," said Ron Hardin, board president of the Family Promise of Spokane.

After being on extended family medical leave, Kirkland Fire Department Chief Kevin Nalder has decided to step down.
Nalder, who has been on leave for two months, stepped down on Friday, according to Deputy City Manager Marilynne Beard.
“I am really proud of Kevin Nalder,” said Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen.
