A Yakima family is safe after an early morning house fire Friday.
Crews were called to the home on the 400 block of North Fifth Avenue around 3:30 a.m. When the arrived, the attic was on fire and began to burn through to the side of the house. A passerby saw the fire and banged on the door of the house.

Bellevue firefighters gathered early Thursday morning for a "pushing in" ceremony for the department's first new firetruck in 15 years.

A spectacular fire destroyed a home west of Port Angeles and threatened to burn another house and cause a wildfire.
Just before five last evening, Clallam Fire District Two was called to 21 Whispering Firs Road off Lower Elwha Road, where a two story single family home was fully engulfed in flames. The next door neighbor’s home and vehicle were in immediate jeopardy of catching fire.
