A forest fire burning southeast of Mount Adams more than tripled in size Wednesday to more than 5,000 acres.
Cooler weather today could help, but it also brings the danger of more lightning storms, which could ignite more fires.
Smoke from the fire and others is drifting into the Yakima Valley, where authorities warned it was unhealthy enough in places to cause problems for young children, the elderly and those with asthma.
