Alabama the 1st state to include peer support training in fire recruit curriculum

Alabama has become the first state in the nation to add peer support training to its curriculum for new fire school recruits, thanks to funding from the Alabama Department of Mental Health and support from the Professional Fire Fighters of Alabama (PFFA). According to reports, 37% of firemen and women have battled post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and firefighters are three times more likely to die on the job than those in other careers.

2 rescued hours after small plane crashes into Maryland power lines

Fire breaks out, destroys mobile park home in Clarkston

A fire broke out and destroyed a family’s mobile park home in Clarkston on Saturday. Asotin County Fire District #1 and the Clarkston Fire Department responded to the fire at 1445 Elm St. in Asotin County. When crews got to the mobile home park, the home had lots of smoke and flames coming out of the windows.

22 people displaced after fire at Tacoma apartment complex

Twenty-two people are without a home Friday after a fire ripped through a Tacoma apartment complex on Thanksgiving. The fire started at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of South Mason St. between 8 and 9 p.m. Thursday. The fire was visible on the 2nd and 3rd floor decks of one building, according to officials with the Tacoma Fire Department.
