'I will never look at fire the same way': Clark County first responders' home destroyed, several pets killed after house fire

VIDEO: A Clark County family is grieving the loss of their four pets, their home and all of their belongings. They were lost in a house fire Monday night. No one was injured. Just after 8 p.m., Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue and Clark County Fire District 10 responded to the home in La Center on Northeast 384th Street.

Washington man indicted in fires at Jehovah's Witness halls

A Washington state man who is already in federal custody on weapons charges has now been indicted in a series of arsons at Jehovah's Witness kingdom halls, authorities announced Wednesday. Seattle U.S. Attorney Nick Brown said in a news release that the new charges against 50-year-old Mikey Diamond Starrett, also known as Michael Jason Layes, are part of the Justice Department's efforts to target hate crimes, which have been on the rise nationally.

Richmond (VA) Fire Station Burns

Richmond firefighters battled a fire at the Number 8 fire station on Wednesday.

The fire was reported at about 1 p.m. at the station at 1018 Williamsburg Road. The first responding company found fire showing through the roof of the two-bay firehouse.

Firefighters immediately began a defensive attack on the fire.

There was construction reportedly under way when the fire was reported. The fire was under control at 1:34 p.m.

Chelmsford Fire to use $18K State Grant for Water Rescue Craft, Other Equipment

The Chelmsford Fire Department will receive $18,428.64 from the state as part of the FY23 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program, the administration of Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito announced Friday.

A Chelmsford fire official told Patch.com that the funds would be used for a water rescue deployment craft — a rescue boat — and other equipment.

Chelmsford was one of 308 fire departments in Massachusetts that received a total of $5 million in grant money for new equipment.

This is the third year of the Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program, which is part of a 5-year, $25 million bond bill filed by the Baker/Polito administration to support firefighter safety and health.

Bellingham woman says 'demons' caused apartment fire

A Bellingham woman experiencing drug-induced hallucinations was arrested after attempting to set her apartment on fire. Court documents state that a fire was reported at the building on Friday night. Bellingham Fire officials determined that the fire began in a bedroom and appeared intentionally set.
