Sidney Fire (CA) Takes Possession of Used Fire Apparatus

Sidney Fire recently took possession of a used 2005 fire truck, reports Saanich News.

It allows the operator pumping to stand on the truck rather than at the side, affording them protection from any side-swiping vehicles on the highway. It is also so big it can be positioned to shield firefighters from passing highway traffic and it also can act as a reserve engine, providing a surplus of pumping capacity.

Mt. Pleasant (TN) Acquires Fire Apparatus

Mt. Pleasant has a new fire engine and rescue apparatus hybrid that is equipped with a 1,500 gallon per minute HALE pump and an on-board tank with a capacity of 300 gallons, reports The Daily Herald.

The fire truck will be used for emergency medical responses, motor vehicle accidents and to pull an innovative firefighting foam trailer. The foam trailer, supplied by partnerships with the Maury County Office of Emergency Management and Solvay, a local chemical manufacturing company, is used to respond to all major flammable liquid fires across Maury County.

The small size and power of the new fire engine will allow for the rapid deployment of the trailer.

Ross Twp.(OH) Could Save $100,000 on Next Fire Apparatus

Ross Twp. could save almost $100,000 on a new fire truck after another truck was totaled, reports Butler County's Journal-News.

The $600,000 truck was completely totaled when it went into the ditch, so after the $500 deductible, the insurance company will replace it.

Fire Chief Steve Miller estimated he can save about $97,000 if the township orders two fire trucks. It will take about 13 months before the trucks will be ready
