Construction on New Lyndhurst (OH) Fire Station to Begin

After more than five years of planning and consideration, Lyndhurst is ready to move ahead with the rebuilding of its fire station. Located on the eastern half of the City Hall complex, 5301 Mayfield Road, the one-story station was built in 1974.

Bellwood Rural (NE) Fire Gets New Ambulance

Even after four months, it still has that new car smell. Bellwood Rural Fire District No. 5 purchased a new ambulance in January. While the station typically buys them used, this one is a newer model. Fire Chief Matt Gangwish said the station always has two ambulances on hand at all times, typically replacing them after 10 years of use.

East Texas Storms Highlight Benefits of Multi-Tasking Fire Apparatus

The recent East Texas emergency situation during the storms illustrate how beneficial multi-tasking fire units can be. Many East Texas fire departments use engines that can double as medical units when going to a scene. And man,y like the Longview Fire Department, have a majority of personnel that are cross-trained in emergency medical services.

Pierce “Road Rally” to Bring Advanced Fire Apparatus to Locations Nationwide

APPLETON, WI—Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company, announced that its Road Rally will give members of the fire service a chance to experience innovative fire apparatus and talk with experts about their community’s unique needs. Pierce’s Road Rally kicks off on Monday, June 10, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri, and will visit more than 20 U.S. locations.

“In recent years, Pierce has introduced many new product innovations that have set benchmarks for performance in the industry and focused on the essential needs of firefighters,” said Jim Johnson, president of Pierce Manufacturing. “The Road Rally will feature eight Pierce fire trucks and will encompass an immersive and educational experience allowing current and prospective customers a chance to view, operate, and ask questions about the products that will best serve their community.”

Visitor experiences will include educational Q&A sessions with Pierce product experts and Pierce dealer representatives. Also, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on operation of apparatus; test drive all apparatus featured in the Road Rally, including the Saber Pumper with Ford Power Stroke Engine; and learn more about the extensive customizations available on Pierce fire trucks from chassis to pump panels, electrical systems to TAK-4® suspension, and more.

Pierce’s Road Rally will stop in locations including fire departments, fire training centers, Pierce dealerships and service centers, and other locations across the U.S. throughout summer 2019.
