Thurston Fire Company Gets New Engine

One Steuben County (NY) fire company has a new truck, fingerlakesdailynews.com reported.

In a Saturday Facebook post, the Thurston Fire Company out of Campbell (NY) announced it bought a fire truck from the Corning Joint Fire District to replace its current engine, according to the report.

Washington (PA) Fire Department Dedicates New Engine

Washington (PA) Fire Department dedicated its new Pierce Enforcer rescue engine Saturday, Observer-Reporter.com reported.

The engine will bear a plaque dedicated to the memory of Jeremy LaBella, a Washington firefighter who died in the line of duty in February 2007 when a roof collapsed during a structure fire, the report said.

The truck replaces an engine that has been retired. It is the beginning of a modernization plan for the fire department, according to the report.

Longmont (CO) to donate fire truck to Ciudad Guzman (Mexico)

Longmont (CO) will donate one of its fire trucks, which has reached the end of its official lifespan, to its sister city in Ciudad Guzman, Mexico, TimesCall.com reported.

The city council unanimously approved the fire truck’s donation during its regular meeting Tuesday. It is believed to have an auction value of $50,000, the report said.

Longmont previously gave two of its older brush trucks to Ciudad Guzman, which has been Longmont’s sister city since 1997, according to the report.

VIDEO: Firefighters battle fire at Kansas recycling plant

PHOTOS: Fire crews from both Sedgwick County Fire District 1 and the Wichita Fire Department are still fighting a fire at Evergreen Recycle in north Wichita. The fire broke out Sunday night in the 300 block of W. 53rd Street North. The fire was clearly visible on KSN’s SkyView camera. The Wichita Fire Department said a large mass of wood products was burning and that thousands of gallons have been dumped on the fire.
