Small plane crashes near Tacoma, pilot uninjured

PHOTOS: A small plane crashed in a field near Tacoma, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. The plane came down southeast of Tacoma in the 6100 block of 52nd Street East. According to photos from the scene, the plane was belly-up. The pilot was able to get out on their own and was uninjured.

Seneca (MO) Opens New Fire Station

The Seneca (MO) Fire Department as dedicated a brand new fire station that been in the making for more than seven years, according to a report published by KOAM News Now.

At the grand opening this week, officials spoke of the work that has gone into making the project a reality since the land was donated for the new station back in 2015, according to the report that also said the ground breaking was held in 2018.

The project languished until the Eastern Shawnee Tribe, across the state line in Oklahoma and asked how much it would cost to finish the station and donated $273,000 to complete the project, according to the report.

Seneca will now have two stations in the community, one on either side of the train tracks that divides the community which means there will be no delay caused by trains that travel through every 15 to 20 minutes, according to the report.

Eugene-Springfield (OR) Firefighters Put New Pumper in Service

A $672,000 engine has been delivered to the Eugene-Springfield (OR) Fire Department, according to a report published by The Register-Guard.

The new engine, built by Pierce, will replace a 1997 Pierce and will be assigned to Station 14, according to the report.

It is designed to improve the deployment of equipment and be easier to drive, according to the report, which also said it comes with ladder and hose storage and more room in the back cab for easier access.

Greenville (OH) Fire Department Moves to Buy $1.2 Million Pumper

The Greenville (OH) city council has a passed a resolution to purchase a new fire truck with a $1.2 million price tag that will replace two older units in the community’s fire department, according to a report published by the Daily Advocate.

According to the report, Greenville got a 4.8 percent interest rate on the purchase of the new truck, meaning the payments will be about $140,000 per year for 10 years.

The new apparatus, which could take up to 31 months to be built and delivered, will replace a 1997 pumper and an older utility apparatus, according to the report, which also said the new apparatus would significantly more space for equipment than the ones it replaces.

It will be equipped with a 750-gallon water tank and a 1,500 gallons per minute pump, according to the report.

Pleasant Hill (IA) firefighters welcomed the new Seagrave apparatus with a traditional push in ceremony which also allowed them to thank the community for providing them with new equipment, according to a report published by KCCI 8.
