Woman dies in East Wenatchee condominium fire

An unidentified woman died in a condominium fire this morning in East Wenatchee. Douglas County Fire District 2 and Chelan County Fire District 1 responded at 10:28 a.m. to the fire at Stoneridge Condos in the 1400 block of Eastmont Avenue after a caller reported seeing flames coming from the home. The fire was on the second floor of the unit and firefighters, after being told there was still a family member inside, reached the deceased woman at 10:39, said Kay McKellar, fire district spokeswoman.

Naches Fire Department asking for a cone back that was taken during an emergency response

The Naches Fire Department says a light-up collapsible marking cone was taken from the roadway yesterday, and now they're asking for it back. "You see traffic signs on the road all the time and you just assume they fell off of a truck but that's not always the case and in this situation that was definitely not the case," Lieutenant Joey Weedin, at Naches Fire Department, said.

Evacuations lifted in Seven Bays Fire near Davenport

The Seven Bays Fire was estimated to have burned 1,000 acres as of Wednesday morning, according to an update from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The fire was 15% contained. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) also shared Miles-Creston road has now reopened. Dozer lines have been established around all sides of the fire, and crews will focus on directly attacking the fire Wednesday and Thursday.

Hazy & windy weather heightens fire danger

A windy Wednesday will cause a number of weather concerns today. Most importantly, Red Flag Warnings are in effect until 10pm tonight as fire danger hit high and critical levels due to wind speeds up to 35mph across the area. The winds will cause all the active fires in the northwest to become more active and very likely, produce more smoke resulting in widespread hazy and smoky skies.

Broadview Heights (OH) Moves Forward With Design of New Fire Station

Broadview Heights (OH) will finish designing a new fire station within the next few weeks, but won’t start planning construction until it has enough money to build it, Cleveland.com reported on August 30.

A Cleveland city official said the fire station’s designer – Van Auken Akins Architects in Cleveland – will come up with a new construction cost estimate as part of its services, the report said.
