Westport (CT) Fire Department Seeks to Buy Two New Fire Engines

Westport (CT) Fire Department will soon benefit from the approval of nearly $2.23 million in approved funding for two new fire trucks, a couple of all-electric command-type vehicles and a diesel exhaust extraction system for the station, according to a report published by the Connecticut Post.

According to the report, the new fire engines are the top priority of the list and the money will be used to replace 2001 engines that have reached the end of their useful lives for the community.

The engines could cost as much as $942,000 each with build times between 400 and 600 days, according to the report. Westport officials approved the purchase of the two apparatus to be built by Marion Body Works on Spartan Metro Star cabs and chassis, the report said.

In addition, the department was authorized to buy two 2025 Ford F150 Lightning pickup trucks and the installation of charging stations as well as the exhaust extraction system that will go before the town board in August, according to the report.
