An Antioch Fire Department apparatus was severely damaged early Thursday morning after it ran into a downed tree in Blacksburg, reports wspa.com.
SC Highway Patrol crews responded to the accident—on Antioch Road near Hambright Road—around 5:20 a.m. Officials say the department was responding to a downed tree—which wound up being the culprit of the crash.
Officials closed Antioch Road to remove the fire truck from the tree, the report says. It took until about 8 a.m. to finish the job.
The firefighter in the truck was able to exit safely, and no injuries were reported.
