Michigan firefighter just retired to take a vital role with the MLB's Detroit Tigers

Canton firefighter Maureen Stoecklein has switched gear from public safety to professional sports as the Detroit Tigers nutrition coordinator. She was invited to become a crucial member of the professional baseball team’s support network in late 2021 and officially retired from firefighting duties this summer to focus on the Tigers’ fuel from food.

Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Walla Walla suffers $110,000 in damages after fire overnight

The Walla Walla Fire Department responded to a fire early Wednesday morning at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course on East Rees Avenue. According to the Walla Walla Fire Department, at 1:49 a.m., units were dispatched after receiving reports that visible flames could be seen and large embers were seen coming down.

Toutle Fire levy a few points shy of passing, according to early election results

A levy to pay for fulltime staff at the mostly volunteer fire department in Toutle is slightly below the numbers needed to pass, according to early election results Tuesday evening. Toutle Fire & Rescue, as known as Cowlitz County Fire Protection District 3, asked voters to approve a levy to pay for more staff and equipment so crews can reach emergencies in time.

Firefighters at Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest fight 7 fires in 7 days

Firefighters with the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest responded to seven fires in as many days. Most of the fires were small and caused by people. First, the Fortune Creek fire started on July 25 but is currently contained and under control. It was about 21 miles from Cle Elum and burned about a tenth of a mile.
