Spokane Fire Department responds to truck over the edge of road in South Spokane

Spokane Fire Department is responding to a truck over the edge of the road on Fairway Ridge Lane near Hangman Valley Golf Course. SFD reports medics and fire crews are on scene. Crews said the truck went over the edge of the road because of slick conditions. The driver is at Deaconess with minor injuries.

Former Onalaska Fire Chief, Captain File Request to Recall Commissioners

Two former Lewis County Fire District 1 volunteers, including the district’s former chief, filed a request for a recall petition Wednesday against the district’s two remaining elected commissioners listing 11 alleged violations of state law. District residents have called for the resignations of the Onalaska district’s commission chair Rich Bainbridge and commissioner Bill Kassel on several occasions since the pair voted in November to fire chief Andrew Martin.

Chelan County Fire District 1 Loses Four Veterans in Month

Chelan County Fire District 1 lost 123 years worth of experience last month after four career firefighters hung up their helmets for good. Retired from the fire district are Deputy Chief Glen Widener, Capt. Tyke Gaskell, engineer Dan Bass and firefighter Glenn Smith. The four began their careers with the Wenatchee Fire Department before it was annexed into the fire district.

One person killed in Bellevue condo fire

One person was killed in a fire at a condo complex in Bellevue Wednesday night, according to Bellevue Fire. Firefighters were called to the complex in the 3400 block of 161st Court E. just after 7:30 p.m. The call was initially reported as an appliance fire. When crews arrived the found white smoke coming from a dryer in one unit, then discovered the fire was actually in the duct work.

No one injured after dryer catches Spokane Valley apartment unit on fire

Wednesday afternoon, fire crews rushed to the Clock Tower Palace apartment complex near 4th and Sullivan to put out a 2 alarm fire. Firefighters on scene tell KHQ that it was confined to a first floor apartment. A mother and baby were in their apartment when the dryer caught fire. Crews say she tried to put the flames out with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful.
