Spokane County Fire District 4 building new Deer Park station

Spokane County Fire District 4 is building a new fire station in Deer Park. In 2014, voters in Spokane County Fire District 4 approved a bond for facility and equipment updates. Two fire stations have already been built and are in use, while a new station, Station 41, in Deer Park is currently under construction.

Car ends up in Green River after driver loses control

A driver who lost control of his car ended up in the Green River in Kent early Wednesday. Puget Sound Fire and Kent police were called to South 259th Street and Third Avenue South at about 12:30 a.m. after a witness reported seeing a small green car drive off the road and fall into the river, which is about 20 feet below road level.

Update: Yakima City Council approves funding to hire more firefighters

The Yakima Fire Department has been granted funding that will help hire three additional firefighters to the team. Yakima Fire Cheif Bob Stewart sent in the request to city council due the department being short staffed. "Currently I believe we slightly below average in the number of firefighters that we have," said Stewart.

Spokane County confident in their emergency alert system

Tuesday people in Japan received a false news bulletin stating North Korea had fired a missile. Saturday, an accidental text in Hawaii put people in a panic thinking there was an imminent, incoming missile. Both were frightening false alarms In Spokane County, emergency management is confident if you get a local alert; it will be the real thing.

Grays Harbor Fire District #5 Thanks Community for Recent Donations

Thanks to strong support from the community, Grays Harbor Fire District # 5 has the funds for some upgrades. A press release from the department said they received a donation of $3,000 on December 11th, 2017 from the Druzianich Family Charitable Foundation in Elma. Invenergy, a commercial business resident of the Port of Grays Harbor, Satsop Business Park also donated $2,500.
