First all-woman crew staffs Bellingham fire station

A first for the Bellingham Fire Department and a first for women firefighters. The department says in a social media post that an all-woman crew staffed one of its engines for the first time ever on Sunday, June 19th. Acting Captain Pernick, Driver Pederson, and Firefighter Owens made department history as they covered the shift at Station 34.

Two-alarm fire takes out two Mountlake Terrace homes, leaves six residents displaced

PHOTO: A large blaze nearly destroyed two Mountlake Terrace homes late Wednesday night, leaving six people without a home. The two-alarm fire was called in around 11:45 p.m. in the 4900 block of 241st Street SW. South County and Shoreline Fire both responded with more than 40 firefighters. Fire investigators are still trying to figure out how the fire started while the Red Cross and Support 7 helped the six displaced residents.

Poulsbo firefighter’s path to Seahawks security

Dave Musselman has been a firefighter in Kitsap County for 33 years, but for seven years he worked security at Seattle Seahawks home football games. “The whole experience has been eye opening to me because there is a lot of comradery,” Musselman said. “I probably met more family members than players.

Spokane Fire Department responds to HAZMAT situation at steel company

Spokane fire crews responded to a HAZMAT situation at the Haskins Steel Co. building on North Freya and East Main on Wednesday night. According to Spokane Fire Department officials, vapor was leaking from the building. As crews tried to locate the source of the leak, people were temporarily told to shelter in place.

Lorain (OH) Firefighters Build Park with Fire Station Theme

Lorain firefighters are helping to make Garfield Park next to Station 4 a little more like Station 4, reports news5cleveland.com.

Shortly after the facility was built in 2019, city officials approved grant money to add to the park, which had just a swing set, according to the report.

Soon the park will boast a fire truck, a fire pole, and an interactive fire control board.

Next year will see the park get phase 2 of the project, which will include a parking lot, picnic tables, and grills, the report says.
