Petzl Technical Partner Program

Petzl America welcomes new 2022 training organizations to PTP Network

Petzl’s Professional Division welcomes seven additional training organizations to the Petzl Technical Partner Program in the US and Canadian markets. The Petzl Technical Partner (PTP) Program formalizes close-working relationships with experts in vertical environments that demonstrate a thorough understanding of their industry, contribute to the development of industry best practices, and integrate Petzl products and solutions into their teaching curriculum.

The PTP Program was launched in the US and Canada in early 2020 with a vision of developing a comprehensive network of training companies to which Petzl may refer business. John Pieper, Managing Director of Petzl’s Professional Division explains, “Petzl is focused on designing and manufacturing the most innovative and highest quality personal protective equipment for working at-height. We do not have the depth of in-field and daily-use expertise of the many training companies that use our products.” Petzl’s vision is to partner with the most respected training companies to support their educational efforts, and to deepen our understanding of these industries and their use of our PPE.

The following US and Canadian training organizations have joined the Petzl Technical Partner Network for 2022: Academy-Trained, All Hands Fire Equipment & Training, Expert Safety Services, Learn to Return Training Systems, North American Training Solutions, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, Tower Safety & Instruction, and Vector Rescue.

Perimeter Solutions Introduces SOLBERG® VERSAGARD™ 1×3 Multipurpose Fluorine-Free Foam Concentrate

New, high-performance, multipurpose concentrate is designed for industrial emergency response to fight Class B and deep-seated Class A fires

Clayton, MO 17 June 2022 – Perimeter Solutions (NYSE: PRM), a leading global manufacturer of high-quality firefighting products and lubricant additives, announced today the launch of SOLBERG® VERSAGARD™ 1×3 Multipurpose Fluorine-Free Foam Concentrate. This is Perimeter Solutions’ first 1×3 fluorine-free foam concentrate available on the market, and the newest addition to the SOLBERG VERSAGARD line of fluorine-free firefighting foam concentrates.

SOLBERG VERSAGARD 1×3 is a state-of-the-art alcohol resistant, fluorine-free pseudoplastic foam technology. It is non-persistent, siloxane-free, and contains no intentionally added per- or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The foam concentrate is designed for extinguishing and securing both Class B (hydrocarbon fuel and polar solvent fuel) and deep-seated Class A Fires. It is ideal for industrial emergency response and is expected to be used extensively at facilities that store crude oil on site.

“The fire safety industry has been seeking non-fluorinated firefighting foams capable of meeting the most demanding emergency response applications.  This is exactly what Perimeter Solutions has delivered, with our new SOLBERG VERSAGARD 1×3 Multipurpose Fluorine-Free Foam Concentrate. At Perimeter Solutions, we continually innovate to develop new products that are more environmentally responsible, and that help firefighters in their efforts to protect property and save lives,” says Jeff Emery, President of Global Fire Safety at Perimeter Solutions.

SOLBERG VERSAGARD biodegradable and non-persistent fluorine-free foam concentrate is a combination of hydrocarbon surfactants and additives that delivers excellent foaming, vapor sealing, drain time, extinguishment and burnback properties for attacking and securing both shallow and fuel in-depth fires, using fresh, sea or brackish water. It is designed to generate stable foams with high fluidity and slow drainage. It is fully compatible with standard firefighting equipment, including in-line inductors, self-inducting nozzles, fire truck pumps, bladder tanks, pump skids, balanced pressure systems and more.

SOLBERG VERSAGARD enters the market having earned multiple international certifications, including EN-1568:2018, International Marine Organization and LASTFIRE batch testing.

In addition to its excellent foamability and bubble stability, SOLBERG VERSAGARD has excellent wetting ability, making it an effective tool for the extinguishment of Class A fuel fires. SOLBERG VERSAGARD 1×3 maintains viscosity levels similar to the viscosity of traditional 1×3 alcohol-resistant aqueous film-forming foam (AR-AFFF) concentrates, improving its storage, handling and long-term stability.

“This is a game-changing product for the fire safety industry and demonstrates how Perimeter Solutions continues to innovate to develop new solutions that will help advance the fire safety industry,” says Javier Castro, General Manager of the EMEA Region for Perimeter Solutions. “Product testing has shown that our 1×3 foam concentrate performs similarly to AR-FFF products that are currently on the market, and several major multinationals oil companies have already signed on to consider SOLBERG VERSAGARD 1×3 in their transition programs to fluorine-free foam concentrates.”

Channahon (IL) Fire Protection District Station 2 Expected Spring 2023

The Channahon Fire Protection District announced the groundbreaking of a new satellite Fire Station #2 to be located at 23370 S. Thomas Dillon Drive, Channahon. The project will replace the fire station located at 23441 W. McClintock Road, Channahon.

The original Fire Station #2 was built circa 1970. It was staffed by volunteers for almost two decades until the volunteer organization began staffing a full-time ambulance at the station. The current facility has undergone modifications to accommodate the changing dimensions of fire apparatus and ambulances over the years. The building has also been reconfigured to house full-time staffing.

As the fire district’s response areas have developed, call volumes have increased, and general traffic areas have become busier, the time to plan for the construction of a replacement fire station has been a focus of the fire district’s planning for over ten years.

The land was donated by the Anderson-Rushing Trust in 2018 as they wished to help the fire district achieve their mission of maintaining excellent service to our residents.

In 2021, the opportunity to pursue low interest general bonds and take advantage of pre-inflated materials pricing was taken to be mindful of our resident’s tax dollars. There are no additional fees or assessments to the residents of the fire district and the station’s construction did not require a referendum. The station’s construction price is $3,785,000.00, which is $215,000.00 under budget.

The new 7,500 square foot facility will house a front-line response engine and ambulance as well as the reserve ambulance. The station will contain two and a half apparatus bays, living area, kitchen, dormitory, fitness area, and office support space.

The location of the new facility will improve access and response times to the station’s first response area including the residential area off W. McClintock Road, Thomas Dillon Drive, Bradley Road, and Interstate 55.

The building was intricately planned by members of the Fire District’s Building Design Team and guided by FGM Architects of Oak Brook and RC Wegman Construction Company of Aurora.

Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin June 2022, with completion in Spring 2023.

A formal public ribbon-cutting and facility-reveal ceremony will be conducted in Spring/Summer 2023 following the opening of the new Fire Station #2.
