3 rescued from second-floor window during South Seattle fire

Firefighters rescued three people from a second-floor bedroom window during a fire at a Seattle duplex. Crews were called to the duplex in the 4500 block of South Orcas Street in the Rainier Valley at about 3:10 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters said the fire started in the living room. Crews were able to get three people out of the home with no injuries.

Family of Toddler saved from Kennewick fire: It's an early-Christmas Miracle

The boy Kennewick firefighters saved from a burning house last week is out of the hospital and staying with his family in Benton City Tuesday night. The Stith family said they're safe and warm. And grateful, because after three nights in a Seattle hospital everyone's together and breathing on their own.

Chelan County Fire District 1 station under construction

Chelan County Fire District 1 said its new fire station in South Wenatchee is under construction. Construction began last week. The new station will be 4,800 square feet. The station is expected to be fully functional by the start of 2018. Chelan County Fire District 1 Chief Mike Burnett says station 13 will have living spaces for four to five fire fighters and will be staffed 24/7.

Emergency pay phone near Verlot ice caves reinstalled after outcry

A pay phone described as vital in emergency situations has been reinstalled at a ranger station northeast of Everett. The Daily Herald reports that Frontier Communications on Tuesday confirmed it had removed and reinstalled the phone at the U.S. Forest Service Verlot Public Service Center. The phone was brought back after a Sunday story in the newspaper and on KOMO News featured authorities' concerns about the phone being gone.

1 dead, 5 hurt as powerful storm blasts Western Washington with 50-70 mph winds

One person has died and least five others have been injured as a powerful storm raked Western Washington Monday. The fatality occurred in Renton where a tree fell onto a car with two women and a toddler inside in the 17900 block of 158th Place SE, according to Sgt. Joe Hauk wih the King County Sheriff's Office.
