‘Oldest Firehouse in U.S.A.’ Preserved in NJ

Mount Holly’s old wooden firehouse, which claims to be the oldest in the country, will not be forgotten by Relief Fire Engine Company #1—mainly because it will soon be on display inside the company’s new Pine Street facility.

This week the entire 8x12x11 structure will be transported 100 feet to the adjacent Pine Street digs, reports inquirer.com. It’s all part of a $7.9 million plan to centralize and upgrade the district’s administrative and operational facilities.

The former firehouse will be refurbished and placed on exhibit in the planned firefighting history center there.

To move it, the gable roof was detached, the interior walls were braced, and the bottom was secured, according to the report. Read more about the former station and its journey here.

LifeLine Firehose: Providing Continuous Breathable Air

The LifeLine Firehose is a new system that offers unlimited breathable air via patented coupler design technology, utilizing the Buddy Breather at the end of the nozzle.

In short: It aims to allow firefighters to connect to an airline sans SCBA tank—which can weigh upwards of 20 pounds.

See how it works below:

The new fire truck at Warren (MI) Fire Department station 5 is the first to be equipped with the LifeLine Firehose, reports Macomb Daily.

Officials are optimistic about the new, simpler concept. With some hopeful that it will get crew members to wear a mask even at outdoor fires, which traditionally doesn’t happen.

The LifeLine system costs $19,100, according to the report. And if the department likes the new equipment, its other new truck—scheduled for a December delivery—will also be equipped with it.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Monday, Stevens County Fire District #2 reported to the Stevens County 911 Center that a fire truck was missing from the station at the intersection of State Route 25 and Enterprise Road.

“I was on my way to meeting and saw the rollup door was open as I drove by,” stated Rick Anderson – Fire Chief. Upon closer inspection, Brush 272, a white 2008 F550 4×4 Type 6 fire truck was missing from the station. It will take significant time and funding to both fix the damaged fire truck, its missing equipment, and figure out how we replace an almost $100,000 fire truck. The fire station is located just north of the Two Rivers Resort and old Fort Spokane on SR25.”

Stevens County Fire District #2 serves the communities of Hunters, Cedonia, Fruitland and the west side of the Spokane Indian Reservation. It is an all-volunteer organization operating on a very limited budget. The Fire District is located between Davenport WA and Kettle Falls WA.

Stevens County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Attached is a picture of the truck. It has WA license C1694D. It is a white extended cab with green striping. If you have any information about this theft, please contact the Stevens County 911 Center at 509.684.2555.
