What to Know About Deltacron, the Potential New COVID Variant Combination of Delta and Omicron

Another new COVID-19 variant has been detected. The World Health Organization has confirmed that the new variant, dubbed Deltacron — a combination of Delta and Omicron — has been detected in the France, Denmark and the Netherlands. Update: Fire in Seattle high rise ruled arson

The Seattle Fire Department responded to a fire early Thursday morning in the downtown area. Around 2:41 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the lobby of a high rise apartment building in the 2200 block of First Avenue. Crews had the fire under 45 minutes after they arrived. Two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Bill to increase first responder retirement benefits heads to Governor

One of the many bills headed to Governor Inslee’s desk will go to improve firefighter and law enforcement officer retirement benefits. Senate bill 5791 focuses on plan 1 members, firefighters and police officers who entered the service between 1969 and October 1977. The bill, which passed unanimously in both houses, would give retirees a check of 100 dollars per month of service, and a minimum of 20 thousand for those gravely injured or disabled in the line of duty.

Fire Quickly Contained in Chelan County

At 0409 this morning, crews from Chelan Fire & Rescue and Chelan County Fire District #5 (Manson) were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Azwell Road in the northern part of the fire district. First arriving crew reported a small storage structure with possible exposures and were able to contain the fire immediately with the resources on scene.
