April is National Donate Life Month, raising awareness about the importance of organ donation.
Just last week, the power of community helped a local woman awaiting a transplant get to the hospital to receive her new organs.

Michael Fearing has been a firefighter for more than 30 years. He said a typical fire hose lasts 10-15 years. They get pressure tested each year and if they fail; they have to be replaced.
Over the years, Fearing has watched thousands of feet of used fire hose enter landfills.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) donated surplus wildfire engines to four eastern Washington fire districts on Monday.
This year, 10 engines were donated across the state. Four of them will be utilized in eastern Washington as part of the DNR's annual effort to strengthen fire response in wildfire-prone rural areas.

Ten firefighters in east King County are now out of a job-- they were let go from Eastside Fire & Rescue on Monday because they are not vaccinated against COVID-19.
Chief Jeff Clark said the agency is following the governor’s mandate of all emergency service providers being fully vaccinated by Oct. 18, 2021.

Kennewick Fire Department is investigating the cause of a colonial house fire that has displaced the people living there.
KFD says the fire happened around 1:30 a.m at 3 W. 3rd Ave.
Firefighters say a nurse called them when she could smell smoke while working.
KFD says there are six to eight people displaced.
