An Edinburg fire truck rolled and injured one firefighter in northern Hidalgo County Friday afternoon, reports myrgv.com.

The driver in the single-vehicle accident, which occurred at some point after 5:30 p.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 490, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.

Officials believe poor visibility is the culprit.

Port Alberni (B.C., Canada) city council recently approved a budget increase, tapping into the city’s equipment replacement reserve fund to account for C$675,000 overrun on a C$1.8 million aerial, reports albernivalleynews.com.

The apparatus’ 30-meter ladder is eight meters longer than its predecessor’s, the report says.

Council rejected a separate recommendation that would have raised the vehicle’s cost another C$55,000 to slightly lower greenhouse gas emissions.

The Port Alberni Fire Department is scheduled to take delivery in 2023, according to the report.

The Buckhannon Fire Department Friday placed in service its custom-built Engine 11.

Officials say the apparatus should serve the department for at least 20 years.

A Simla Fire Department tender and and an SUV were involved in an accident Sunday afternoon. The crash happened sometime around 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Ramah Highway and Harrisville Road near the town of Calhan.

Two people in the in SUV were injured. A woman was transported by helicopter to a hospital; a man was transported by ambulance. No firefighters were injured in the crash. Police are investigating the cause of the accident, KOAA reports.

In the midst of the winter storm that took the area by, well, uhhh, storm at the beginning of February, Sandoval County Fire and Rescue officials realized that the county’s dozen or so brush trucks handle snowy conditions incredibly well, reports rrobserver.com.

Intended to fight fires in undeveloped areas with their deeper-treaded tires and smaller bodies, the apparatus proved their multi-purpose worth during a Placitas house fire in that February 2 blizzard, according to the report.

Already dealing with heavy flow of calls, two trucks ventured out to respond but got stuck in the snow. Some crew members proceeded on foot, but, ultimately, the brush trucks and their four-wheel drive capabilities got crews to the scene, the report says.

The brush trucks helped extinguish most of the flames, and about 75% of the home was saved.

Officials say the fire was caused by a chicken coop out back that caught fire and spread to the home.
