House fire leaves Yakima man injured

Yakima Firefighters battled flames of a house fire in the 200 block of South 47th Avenue early Tuesday morning. A 70-year-old man was injured and taken to a Yakima hospital but then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he's being treated for burns. Firefighters were called to the home at about 1:51 am Tuesday.

Lacey police looking for person who set fires at Komachin Middle School, elsewhere

Lacey police are asking the public to help identify a person believed to have started several fires in the city on Sunday, including one at Komachin Middle School. Early Sunday, Lacey Fire District 3 crews were dispatched to the school in the 3600 block of College Street Southeast. The school is being remodeled and Battalion Chief Ryan Fox said the fire was contained to an area of new construction.

Restaurant owner holds special luncheon for first responders at Seattle Airport restaurant

Sam Choy recently hosted a first responders luncheon at his restaurant located inside the Seattle Airport. Firefighters, police officers and other first responders were in attendance eating what Sam Choy calls “a little piece of Hawaii.” The restaurant called, Poke to the Max, offers poke salads, wraps, bowls, tacos or you can buy poke by the pound.

Baltimore (MD) Engine Loses Bumper at Fire Scene, Union Urges Fleet Upgrades

Baltimore firefighters responded to a a three-story house in the city’s Park Heights neighborhood Thursday that put the poor condition of the city’s fleet of fire engines on display.

While responding Engine 29 lost its bumper and hydrant connection.

Union President John Fannon urged the City Council to adopt NFPA 1911 as the standard for maintenance of the city’s fleet of apparatus.

The fire started around 3 p.m. at the home in the 4600 block of Pimlico Road. By 4 p.m., firefighters had extinguished the fire.
