VIDEO/PHOTOS: Firefighters responded to a fire in a commercial building Monday morning in Pierce County.
Crews battled what they called a two-alarm fire in the Watson Signature Event Center at 11521 Bridgeport Way SW. The event center is next to an apartment complex where about a dozen people live.
“The smoke got thicker and a lot stronger, and that's when they came and knocked on the door and said there was a fire, so then we evacuated at that point,” said Rhonda Gallert, one of the evacuees.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Seattle Fire Department crews rescued a distressed swimmer who was offshore in Lake Union Sunday afternoon.
The SFD said they received a call about a swimmer in Lake Union who went underwater and was not seen resurfacing. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Valley St., the SFD posted on X at 2:11 p.

PHOTOS: About 15 boats were damaged or destroyed after an early morning fire at Las Vegas Boat Harbor at Lake Mead.
According to the National Park Service, the fire started around 12:30 a.m. and was contained by 3:30 a.m.
As of Sunday evening, authorities were still investigating what caused the fire.
