Life-saving EMT determined to become third-generation Oklahoma firefighter

Washington reports more than 15,000 new COVID-19 cases

On Thursday, Washington state health officials reported a record number of new coronavirus cases. The Washington State Department of Health reported 15,157 new cases since Wednesday. This brings the state to 913,980 total cases, 46,752 hospitalizations, and 9,974 deaths. On Wednesday, Gov. Jay Inslee announced plans to help slow the spread of coronavirus including expanding testing, expanding booster availability and supplying masks to the public.

Spokane Valley Fire to pilot program for youth helmet safety

The Spokane Valley Fire Department received a grant to help further their goal in making the SVFD Fire District safe for kids. The department received a grant from the East Region EMS and Trauma Care Council. SVFD plans to turn this grant into a program that provides school-age children with a multi-sport helmet for those who do not already have one.

St. Paul (IN) Volunteer Fire Department Waiting on New Station

The St. Paul (IN) Volunteer Fire Department has the land to build a new station but is waiting on construction funding, reports shelbynews.com.

The current building, located at 110 N. Webster St., was built in 1941 and lacks space for its five apparatus and has health issues, the report says.

The department tried applying for a grant, but COVID ixnayed those plans as well as many planned fundraisers.

The department has 23 volunteer firefighters on its roster, with about 10-12 who respond to fires.

Town of Dennis (MA) to Hold Ground Breaking for Fire Station 2

The Select Board invites all to a ground-breaking ceremony on January 13 at 11 a.m. to formally begin construction activities for the new Fire Station 2 project to be held onsite at 350 Paddocks Path, Dennis (MA).

At the Annual Town meeting held in June of 2020 the community approved the funding for Owner’ Project Manager (OPM), Design and Engineering services. Within six months an OPM and Designer had been selected. CHA Consulting, Inc. (OPM) and The Galante Architecture Studio (Design). The Dennis Fire Station 2 Committee was selected and added much input for the design of the future Fire Station as well as the selection of the General Contractor B.C. Construction Company, Inc.

Upon completion, the Dennis Fire Station 2 will provide proper coverage and sound response-time for the area as well as provide adequate capacity for Fire Department personnel, fire vehicles and equipment. The new facility, which was approved by a Town Meeting and subsequent ballot vote in November, 2021, is designed to meet the current and future needs of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services for the Town of Dennis Community.
