VIDEO: For an estimated 30 minutes, the Eastern Guilford High School community went about their days, unaware flames were spreading to their school’s roof, which in turn, started feeding the fire. Not long after, firefighters were swarming the scene only to learn they were way behind.
They never caught up.

A potentially faster-spreading "sub-lineage" of the coronavirus Delta variant named AY.4.2 has been spotted by labs in at least 8 states, and health authorities in the United Kingdom say they are investigating a growing share of cases from this strain of the virus.
Labs in California, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, North Carolina, Rhode Island and Washington state, plus the District of Columbia, have so far spotted at least one case of AY.

PHOTOS: One man is behind bars after police said he recklessly drove a potato truck on the highway, caught the truck on fire and then attempted to escape from officers.

One person was displaced following a fire at an apartment complex in Vancouver Sunday afternoon.
The Vancouver Fire Department said crews were called out to a fire in a two-story apartment building located at 1729 Murton Street shortly after 2 p.m. First crews to arrive found fire showing from a window in a second floor unit.

A 30-year-old South Kitsap man is accused of setting fire to his house Sunday, with witnesses telling investigators the man said he wanted to kill everyone and earlier that day said, “I’m just going to set it on fire.”
South Kitsap Fire and Rescue firefighters responded at about 6 p.m. to the fire on the 6700 block of SE Mile Hill Drive, where residents told them they suspected the 30-year-old of setting the fire, according to court documents.
