Westport Hose Co. #1 (NY) Moves to Fire Station

Westport Hose Co. #1 is moving into a new fire station, reports The Sun.

The long-awaited expansion update brings all fire trucks, ambulances and rescue support vehicles under one roof.

The fire trucks are in their bay and bunker gear line the back wall, all fully operational should the need arise. The historic fire bell will be moved to the new site and placed on a platform in the front yard.

Eight bays for trucks and ambulance rigs allow easy entry and a fast exit.

Allen Township (PA) Approves $1M for Purchase of Fire Apparatus

Officials have voted to donate $1 million to the Allen Township Fire Company for the purchase of an elevated waterway vehicle, reports The Home News.

Two manufacturers were approached to make the vehicle. While the truck costs $1,020,000, the fire company can receive a substantial discount by paying in full, bringing the cost down to $985,000. Fire Chief Dale Hassler said the fire company also recently applied for a $16,000 grant.

Yakima Greenway, residential fires kept firefighters hopping Wednesday

Yakima firefighters were busy Wednesday with two fires — one that scorched nearly a half-acre on the Yakima Greenway and another that badly damaged a home. Crews were first called to the Greenway about 12:30 p.m., where a fast-spreading fire was feeding on timber north of the McGuire Community Playground, according to a Yakima Fire Department news release.

East Jefferson County makes history hiring battalion chiefs
