VIDEO: A home being renovated in New Castle, Lawrence County caught fire Sunday morning. The fire broke out at the N. Mercer Street home around 5:30 a.m. Pittsburgh's Action News 4 was told a family living a few blocks away saw the glow in the sky. They woke up the next-door neighbors of the home that caught fire and got them out of their house.

Vaccine makers are preparing for a next possible phase of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout: booster doses. The US Food and Drug Administration on Thursday authorized third doses of both the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna coronavirus vaccines for certain immunocompromised people: solid organ transplant recipients or "those who are diagnosed with conditions that are considered to have an equivalent level of immunocompromise.

VIDEO: Two people were killed in an apartment fire in Browne’s Addition early Monday. morning. A firefighter was also injured. The fire started at 2304 W 2nd Ave. shortly around 2:45 a.m. The fire burned two apartment buildings and flames could be seen shooting from the roof. Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said the flames started in Tiffany Manor, which has 11 unites and spread to the residence apartment which has seven.

The Schneider Springs Fire is still increasing in size, with no expectation it will be fully contained any time soon. As of Monday, crews say the fire has burned 18,842 acres. There are currently 440 personnel assisting in combating the wildfire. It is still 0% contained. Fire officials say strong wind gusts fueled the fire's spread over the weekend and pushed it northeast towards Highway 410 and west towards Bumping River Road.

Whidbey firefighters were busy Wednesday responding to six brush fires — including three suspicious blazes — on the North End and in Central Whidbey. North Whidbey Fire and Rescue responded to five fires Wednesday afternoon from 3-5 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Steve Lacy. One fire grew to 7 acres in the woods on the Navy’s Seaplane Base; the Navy’s firefighting crew also fought the flames.
