Pennsylvania National Fire Museum Auctioning Fire Apparatus to Raise Funds

The Pennsylvania National Fire Museum is raffling off a 1989 Mack fire truck to raise funds to update its building, reports The Burg.

The model was only made through 1991 and the fire truck runs well, drives well and pumps water well.

Man Arrested for Attempting to Steal East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (CA) Fire Apparatus

As East Contra Costa Fire Protection District firefighters were at the scene of a vegetation fie, a male was arrested after attempting to steal Engine 53, reports East County Today.

The crew noticed the lights of the engine had turned on so they ran to the engine. They then tackled and detained the male while Oakley Police arrived on scene.

Oakley Police later identified the suspect as Arturo Hernandez, 39.

Cape Coral (FL) Fire Station Construction Underway

Construction is underway for a much-needed fire station in Cape Coral, reports WINK.

The $4.5 million station is being built to be able to withstand a major storm. The station is expected to be complete in March of next year and is expected to help reduce response times and lighten the responsibilities of some of the fire stations which currently cover the area.

5th Annual Google Grant for Fire Services is Accepting Applications

Google Nest, maker of the Nest Protect Smoke and CO alarm, and The Leary Firefighters Foundation, founded by actor and activist Denis Leary, have partnered for the 5th annual “Thank You Grant”. The grant awards two deserving fire departments across the country with $25,000 grants for new Google technology and equipment, so they are better equipped to serve their communities.

For departments interested in procuring new equipment and becoming the next recipient of the Google Nest and Leary Firefighters Foundation Thank You Grant, please consider applying by June 30, 2021. Submissions are now open, and grant recipients will be announced later in 2021. Apparatus Spotlight: McKinney (TX) Fire Department’s 2019 Pierce Velocity Pumper

Engine 10 began service with the McKinney (TX) Fire Department on April 2, 2020, when Station 10 was opened. The cab/chassis is a Pierce Velocity model with seating for five, along with rear-facing cabinets mounted on each side of the cab between the front seats and the crew seats. The cabinets are accessible thru hinged compartment doors. The cab also features the CARE clean cab concept. The apparatus is constructed of aluminum with full depth compartments with both Amdor roll-up doors and hinged doors. Compartments are also located on top of the body sides. SCBA storage is located adjacent to the rear wheel wells on each side.
