Less than 2 minutes after the Spokane Fire Department’s Alternative Response Unit pulled into Station 1 on Tuesday afternoon, the next call came in. “This is the busiest rig in the city,” Lt. The City of Walla Walla is officially announcing the July 4 fireworks display will be postponed until an as-yet-unknown later date. Tuesday, the Walla Walla City Council did not express objection to the proposal of city officials to postpone the city’s July 4 fireworks display because of the current extreme heat and dry conditions.

At least 15 people were displaced when a fire destroyed a Union Gap motel Tuesday morning. Yakima firefighters were called to the Sunset Motel, 3401 Main Street, around 9:50 a.m., and found an attic fire that was affecting all seven units in one of the motel’s three main buildings, according to a Yakima Fire Department news release.

A 1920 Ahren-Fox fire truck is one of the prized possessions of the Rochester Fire Department, reports KTTC.

The fire truck’s water tank pumped 750 gallons a minute. There are only a handful of people who are able to drive the 100-year old truck due to its complicated throttle and other controls.

The team has also been working to raise funds to restore the 1889 Clock and Bell Tower.
