VIDEO: Capt. Michael Renn had a few minutes before dinner with the rest of the crew at Louisville Fire Department’s Engine 2.
With diving gear from training that day drying out behind him, he sat down for a quick jam session with Sgt. Alex Eckert — fellow firefighter and fellow band mate.
"I think it started off with me kind of probably just playing guitar, bringing my guitar up to the fire house, and then bumping into actually…our lead singer,” said Renn.

Less than 2 minutes after the Spokane Fire Department’s Alternative Response Unit pulled into Station 1 on Tuesday afternoon, the next call came in.
“This is the busiest rig in the city,” Lt. Gabe Mills said from the passenger’s seat.
The Alternative Response Units are dispatched to low-priority medical calls, and they have been busy during Spokane’s historic heat wave this week.

The City of Walla Walla is officially announcing the July 4 fireworks display will be postponed until an as-yet-unknown later date.
Tuesday, the Walla Walla City Council did not express objection to the proposal of city officials to postpone the city’s July 4 fireworks display because of the current extreme heat and dry conditions.

At least 15 people were displaced when a fire destroyed a Union Gap motel Tuesday morning.
Yakima firefighters were called to the Sunset Motel, 3401 Main Street, around 9:50 a.m., and found an attic fire that was affecting all seven units in one of the motel’s three main buildings, according to a Yakima Fire Department news release.

A 1920 Ahren-Fox fire truck is one of the prized possessions of the Rochester Fire Department, reports KTTC.
The fire truck’s water tank pumped 750 gallons a minute. There are only a handful of people who are able to drive the 100-year old truck due to its complicated throttle and other controls.
The team has also been working to raise funds to restore the 1889 Clock and Bell Tower.
