East Providence (RI) Fire Department Rolls Out New Ladder Truck

East Providence, RI – The East Providence Fire Dept. has rolled out its first new ladder truck in 20 years.

The ladder truck, with a price tag of just over $1 million, will be assigned to Station 2, located on Bullocks Point Avenue in Riverside.

“The East Providence Fire Department is excited that its citizens will have a state-of-the-art aerial truck to serve their districts,” East Providence Fire Chief Glenn Quick said. “This was a long time coming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it came in just in time as we had to decommission one of our ladder trucks.”

The E-One Typhoon model truck, ordered through Greenwood Motors, is a 100-foot aerial ladder truck built by E-One in Ocala, Florida. The 2021 aerial ladder truck carries an assortment of ground ladders and extraction tools. It is an Advanced Life Support (ALS)-certified ladder.

“We are dedicated to enhancing and providing the highest level of public safety for our residents,” Mayor Bob DaSilva said. “And this additional ladder in Riverside will help our city’s residents and may help to save lives.”

Mount Dora (FL) Fire Department Breaks Ground on Station 35

The city of Mount Dora (FL) recently held a ground-breaking ceremony for its Station 35.

Officials say construction is expected to begin soon at the 2.55-acre parcel located at 3200 North Highway 19-A. The new facility will replace the department’s temporary station.

Architects Design Group designed the three-bay, approximately 9,142-square-foot station, which will hold six crew per shift.

Detroit (MI) Fire Department Apparatus Hit; Four Firefighters, Two Civilians in Hospital

A Volkswagen and a Detroit (MI) Fire Department apparatus were involved in a collision Tuesday evening on the city’s west side, reports clickondetroit.com.

Officials say four firefighters were transported to the hospital—one had back pain and the other three were taken as a precautionary measure. The department was on its way to a house fire when the accident happened.

Two civilians were also transported to the hospital, the report says.

Video Seems to Show 12-Year-Old Started Arson Fire in Pasco Walmart

Pasco Police have offered information as to what the disturbance was Sunday night at Walmart. It happened around 9 PM. Authorities now say they believe a young boy with a lighter was responsible for a small, isolated but costly arson fire INSIDE the store. Pasco Police said the younger-looking boy was on his own, and used a lighter to set clothing on fire.

Unoccupied Chisholm (MN) Fire Department Apparatus Hit at Garage Fire

November 2 – A garage and four vehicles were destroyed last evening in a fire in Balkan Township (MN), north of Chisholm.

The fire was reported around 7:20 p.m. in the 5900 block of the Krogerus Road. A Chisholm Fire Department rescue truck, which was unoccupied and parked at the scene, was struck from behind by another vehicle.

The driver was immediately taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

“I’m very thankful that no one was injured when our truck got hit,” said Chisholm Fire Chief Chris Masucci. “We could have had some very serious injuries.”

Firefighters from Chisholm, Hibbing, and French Township were dispatched to the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office while the crash is under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department.
