The 3,000-horsepower fireboat is ready to stand guard over the rebirth of the cruise industry. It takes a huge set of water cannons to protect a ship like the 6,500 passenger Carnival Mardi Gras.

VIDEO: It was a steamy day across Central Virginia on Wednesday and many were looking for a little relief from the heat. First responders in Petersburg came up with a unique way to keep kids cool.
As temperatures flirted with the 100 degree mark, the city’s police and fire department created their own splash park giving kids the chance to slide into summer with some fun.

The coroner confirms they've identified a burned body, three weeks after it was mysteriously found in the middle of a brush fire.
Earlier this month as fire crews fought a blaze near Windy Point campground, and discovered a body in a burned area of brush.
How the fire started and what the man was doing before he died remain unclear.

VIDEO: Five deaths in Spokane County may be heat-related amid a historic heat wave that is slamming the Northwest, bringing record-breaking temperatures to Spokane and surrounding areas.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner wrote on its website on Thursday morning that there are five deaths "wherein circumstances suggest they may be heat-related, although autopsy results are not yet available to confirm.

VIDEO: Local firefighters had quite the clever idea to help people cool off.
Firefighters from Spokane County District 3 took their rigs to Waterfront Park in Medical Lake and used their hoses to spray families down. The fire district used 2,500 gallons of water in an effort to keep people cool. Spokane tied the record for all-time highest temperature on Tuesday with 108 degrees.
