Chula Vista (CA) Fire Department Opens Second New Station in a Month

For the second time in about a month, the Chula Vista (CA) Fire Department opened a new station, reports sandiegouniontribune.com.

The $8.9 million, 13,000-square-foot Station 3, located at 100 Moss St. near Naples Street, replaces the 60-year-old facility that was formerly Station 9.

Much like the new Station No. 5 on Orange Avenue, Station 3 features roll-up doors, the ability to house modern fire equipment, four drive-through bays, and 10 bunk rooms.

Follow Up: Firefighter, social worker program expanded to Seattle's U-District and Ballard

Last month, Seattle expanded two of its Health One response units to U-District and Ballard to primarily serve the two neighborhoods. The first unit serves the downtown area and the Capitol Hill neighborhood, while the Health Two unit team dispatches from the fire department’s Station 17, located at 1050 NE 50th St.

3 Hurt in Texas Crash as Tornado Crosses I-35E Near Waxahachie

VIDEO: Three people were hospitalized late Monday after vehicles collided as a tornado crossed Interstate 35E near Waxahachie, authorities say. The incident involved a "possible fatality" and happened at I-35E and Johnston Road, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The drivers of three tractor-trailers involved in the crash were taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waxahachie.

Virginia fire department gives monumental assist to flag atop Iwo Jima Memorial

PHOTOS: Arlington County firefighters answer the call when someone is in need of help in Arlington. This weekend they provided an assist to a group of legendary Rosslyn area residents cast in bronze. Friday’s windstorm tangled the flag atop the Marine Corps War Memorial, also known as the Iwo Jima memorial.
