Prosser police station, city hall, other businesses damaged in butcher shop blaze

Fire investigators are now investigating the cause of a fire that started in the attic of a Prosser butcher shop on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning, crews were still on scene monitoring the butcher shop and checking for hot spots. Scott Friend with West Benton Fire Rescue tells Action News crews were still putting water on the building at 4 a.

Suspect in 1987 Everett arson case arrested, wanted for murder

An Everett man who failed to appear for sentencing Friday after pleading guilty to the fatal 1987 Everett Community College fire has been arrested. Elmer Nash was 12 on Feb. 16, 1987 when he lit a matchstick and dropped it on a pile of books and papers on the floor of the college’s library, igniting a fast-moving blaze that killed Everett firefighter Gary Parks.

Cedar Grove South End (NJ) Engine Fire Company 3 Gets New Station, Engine

The Cedar Grove South End (NJ) Engine Fire Company 3 has a new station and a new Engine 73, following a recent grand opening, reports tapinto.com.

Mayor Kerry Peterson and councilmen Joe Zichelli and Joseph Maceri were on hand to celebrate the new facility and make the ceremonial cut of the green ribbon.

“I was honored to be a part of the ribbon cutting ceremony today for the new fire house and truck at fire company #3,” Peterson said in a Facebook post. “We have the absolute BEST fire department in the state of NJ, and they deserve the best house and equipment. God Bless, and stay safe.”

“This Fire House is a landmark in town, the first building people see as they enter Cedar Grove,” Zichelli said in a Facebook post. “It is the product of a great working relationship between the Township and the Department, a steadfast dedication by our Town Manager Tom Tucci to securing the best of the best for CGFD, the members, and residents, as well as the support of a Town Council that always has and always will back our first responders. Thank you to all the members of the CGFD for keeping us safe and for your service to the town.”

Crabbs Prairie (TX) Volunteer Fire Department Gets New Brush Truck Via Grant

On the heels of a $118,000 grant from the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program, Crabbs Prairie (TX) Volunteer Fire Department welcomed a new 2021 Ford F550 brush truck, reports itemonline.com.

Officials say the truck will be used to fight grass and wildland fires, manage traffic control after a vehicle accident, and carry medical equipment. It has already been used to respond to several fires.

Riverview’s (FL) Station 46 to Break Ground in June

Hillsborough County (FL) tax-payer money is being used to build the $5 million Station 46 in Riverview, reports abcactionnew.com.

To be located along Rhodine Road and sit between Stations 16 and 3, Station 46 is expected to break ground in June, though personnel is already on standby and the apparatuses have been purchased. It will house an ambulance, ladder truck, and a tanker

The location, officials say, could be key to cutting response times in half.
