Del City (OK) Fire Department Donates Apparatus to Spencer Fire Department

The Spencer (OK) Fire Department has another fire truck, this one gratis, thanks to the neighboring Del City Fire Department, reports kfor.com.

Del City City Council approved at a recent meeting the donation, which is part of a mutual aid agreement between the two cities.

The apparatus is 21 years old but should have several years of life remaining, officials say.

Equipment Failures Force Closure of One Shreveport (LA) Fire Department Station

Equipment failures have forced the closure of at least one station for the Shreveport (LA) Fire Department, reports 710keel.com.

Officials say the department’s aging fleet is breaking down—an engine at Station 1 broke down and an engine from North Shreveport’s Station 2 had to be moved to provide proper coverage. This led to the closing of Station 2 on Saturday, which, officials add, is a temporary situation.

An official adds just four of the city’s 21 fire engines meet national standards in terms of age—staffing issues are also a concern, the official says.

The report also says that Station 12 at Bert Kouns and Woolworth Road is back open after a five-day closure.

Wyse Fork (NC) Volunteer Fire Department Breaks Ground on Second Station

The Wyse Fork (NC) Fire Department (WFFD) recently broke ground at 1155 Neuse Rd. in Kinston for its second station, reports neusenews.com.

This second station aims to enable WFFD to have a faster response time to the neighboring area, and the hope is to have it finished by hurricane season.

As of now, firefighters that live in that area must travel approximately 2.5 miles to the station before bringing the necessary equipment back to the affected area.

Idaho Falls (ID) Fire Department Christens Ladder 1

The Idaho Falls (ID) Fire Department celebrated its new Ladder 1 yesterday with a wet down and push-in ceremony, reports localnews8.com. On hand for the event were city and fire officials; watch the video below.

The apparatus was built from the bottom up by Pierce Manufacturing and Hughes Fire Equipment. It’s an Arrow XT 100-foot Ascendant Aerial.

Its predecessor which will be used as a reserve engine for the department. Immediately following the ceremony, the ladder was called to its first call: a car crash.

Boston (MA) Man, 37, Arrested for OUI After Crashing into Natick Fire Department Apparatus

Boston (MA) man Carlens Rigaud is facing multiple charges, including operating under the influence, after he crashed his vehicle into Ladder 1 in Natick around 1:50 p.m. yesterday, reports wcvb.com.

The crash happened on South Main Street, and witnesses say a vehicle driven by the 37-year-old Rigaud was traveling south at a high speed when it collided with the Natick Fire Department’s apparatus, which was traveling north.

The suspect’s vehicle continued after the collision and narrowly avoided Engine 1. Rigaud’s vehicle did hit another vehicle that was heading south before coming to a stop.

A Natick firefighter and the driver of the vehicle struck by Rigaud’s vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Rigaud was arrested and charged with OUI, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, a marked lanes violation, and possession of a taser without an FID card.
