Altus (OK) Air Force Base Holds Push-In Ceremony for New Truck

Airmen at the Altus (OK) Air Force Base’s fire department recently held a push-in ceremony for their new truck, reports aetc.af.mil.

Officials say the new truck can reach speeds up to 85 miles per hour and can hold up to 3,000 gallons of water.

Pennsylvania Tanker Collides with Tractor-Trailer

Firefighter injured in Berks County crash

MAIDENCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania – Berks Weekly and WFMZ report that a Pennsylvania firefighter was injured when the tanker he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer Wednesday.

Northern Berks Regional Police stated that a Walnuttown Fire Department tanker was travelling Pleasant Hill Road, at approximately 12:25 p.m., when it made a turn onto Route 222, hitting the tractor-trailer.

The collision caused the tanker to overturn.

The firefighter was transported to the hospital for treatment.  There was no report on the type and severity of injuries.

The cause of the crash in under investigation.

Fire department battles flames, smoke at northeast Houston shopping center for several hours

VIDEO: Houston Fire Department crews are working to control a three-alarm fire that continues to burn at a shopping center early Thursday. The fire was first reported around 1 a.m. at the Jensen Square complex, located on Jensen near Hurley. The shopping center has multiple shops and businesses. At this time, there are no reports of injuries.

Voluntary North Carolina firefighter cancer registry shows 7 cancer cases at one department

Over the years, materials used to build houses and other buildings have changed, with some of those materials containing carcinogens that firefighters and first responders inhale when responding to calls and cleaning up after the fire is out. The result, officials say, has been higher rates of certain types of cancer and death rates for firefighters and first responders.
