Vestavia Hills (AL) Gets $1.2MM Fire Apparatus

Vestavia Hills Fire Department has welcomed a new, $1.2 million fire truck, reports Vestavia Voice.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “Our new ladder truck, Quint #4 arrived today. It is equipped with a 103 foot ladder and 1500 gallon per minute pump. It will be housed at Fire Station #4 in Liberty Park. We will complete a few weeks of training and familiarization before placing it in service. We would like to thank the Mayor and City Council for providing us with the tools we need to deliver service to the city.”

The truck also should help the city’s rating from the Insurance Services Office.

Reynoldsburg City Council (OH) Approves Land Sale for Fire Station

Reynoldsburg City Council unanimously approved a land sale for a fire station for West Licking Joint Fire District, reports This Week Community News.

The vacant land was gifted to the city in 2003 for future parkland. In addition to a new fire station, the WLJFD will install a pedestrian path.

The West Licking Fire District operates five stations serving 109 square miles encompassing the communities of Reynoldsburg, Pataskala and Kirkersville, as well as Etna, Harrison and Jersey townships.

Spokane Valley (WA) Donates Retired Fire Apparatus

The Spokane Valley Fire Department donated a fire truck to the city of Malden, reports KXLY.com.

Malden and neighboring town Pine City were destroyed by a fast-moving wildfire which included the fire station and fire engine.

Spokane provided a 1999 Pierce Engine. Last December, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources also donated a new fire engine.

Douglas County Fire District 5 Encourages Homeowners to Install 911 Reflective Address Signs

Douglas County Fire District 5 has made 911 reflective address signs available to the community to help first responders easily identify an address in emergencies. The need for the signs was prompted after the two large fires, Road 11 and Pearl Hill fires, in 2020 that impacted the district. “One of the biggest challenges first responders come across is not being able to easily locate an address whether its poorly labeled or not labeled at all,” said Chief Tyler Caille.

Fayetteville (AR) Fire Department’s New Tiller Leaves Plant

The Fayetteville (AR) Fire Department’s (FFD) new tiller has departed the Pierce Manufacturing plant and is on its way to its new home.

Despite its long size, it’s designed for narrow streets and tight corners.

“This Tiller is the first of its kind for NWA, and the #FFD is proud to staff it!” FFD said on Instagram. “Once this truck arrives, members will go through extensive training on how to drive the front (and back) of this appratus!”
