EV Batteries Are A Major Fire Risk And Carmakers Need To Act

In 2018 there were about 181,500 highway vehicle fires, according to the National Fire Protection Association. The vast majority of those were gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles. For whatever reason, we expect and accept that. But with EV fires it's different. The National Traffic Safety Board addressed these EV fires in January with a report noting that there are two main safety issues.

2-alarm fire burns tavern in White Center

PHOTOS: Firefighters from several South Sound agencies worked to battle a 2-alarm fire at a White Center tavern Wednesday morning. The fire broke out around 5 a.m. at the Locker Room Tavern in the 9600 block of 16th Ave. SW, according to Puget Sound Fire. Firefighters from Tukwila, Seattle and King County Fire Dist.

Follow Up: Fired Ocean Shores fire chief wins breach of contract suit

Former Ocean Shores Fire Chief David Bathke, fired in March 2019, has been awarded more than $730,000 in damages by a Federal District Court judge. “The city breached its agreement” with Bathke, concluded U.S. Western District Court Judge Benjamin H. Settle in his decision, filed Thursday. “As a result of the breach, Bathke suffered damages in the amount of $734,376.

Vancouver woman injured in fiery I-205 crash

VIDEO: A 23-year-old Vancouver woman was taken to a hospital Monday night following a fiery crash along the east side of northbound Interstate 205, just north of Mill Plain Boulevard. Vancouver police and firefighters were called at about 9:15 p.m. to a crash involving injuries, emergency dispatch records show.

Oliver Township (PA) Welcomes Fire Apparatus

The Oliver Township Volunteer Fire Company recently purchased a 1995 Pierce Saber fire engine, reports The Punxsutawney Spirit.

Tthe organization purchased that fire engine to replace its 1988 E-1 Hush, which was purchased from the Sardis Fire Department several years ago.
