Person found dead inside Seattle home damaged by fire

A person was found dead inside a two-story home that caught fire on Wednesday evening, Seattle firefighters said. Crews were called at 5:22 p.m. to the 1600 block of 18th Avenue. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw flames and heavy smoke coming from the front of the home. Firefighters were told by neighbors that a person inside had been unaccounted for.

Snohomish County fire agency offering huge incentives to new hires

Ahead of wildfire season, Snohomish County Fire District 22 in Getchell, is offering to pay big money to hire more firefighters. The department will pay $5,000 in signing bonuses to experienced part-time firefighters who get hired. “We needed to think outside the box and say, ‘what can we provide that provides a little bit extra draw?’” said Assistant Chief Jeremy Stocker.

Cats saved during house fire in Clark County

Clark County Fire District 6 Firefighters were able to save a cat and several kittens Wednesday after a house fire in Felida. Crews say the fire started at 4:15 p.m. on Northwest 34th Avenue. Initial reports say that the homeowner was inside and suddenly noticed a fire on the second floor of the two-story home.

Whidbey Island residents take precautions against wildfire under national program

Last year, Labor Day weekend was a wake-up call. Fires raged on both sides of the state including fires near Deception Pass leading to the north end of Whidbey Island and were put out with the help of helicopters said the Washington Department of Natural Resources. Washingtonians can no longer assume that the wetter west side of the state is immune from wildfire, and that bad fires are only a problem for the typically drier part of the state east of the Cascade Mountains.

White Bear Lake (MN) Dedicates Fire Apparatus

White Bear Lake held a dedication ceremony for a fire truck, reports White Bear Press.

The new fire truck is equipped with a 107 ft. ladder, a 2000 gallon per minute pump and the latest technology. The ladder on the truck it is replacing had a reach of 75 ft.

The fire department posted to Facebook about the fire truck it will replace, “Today we said goodbye to the old Ladder 914 (Ladder 9). It was sold to the Wilburton, OK fire department. This truck will replace their 1973, manual 5 speed ladder they currently have in service. They are pretty excited for their upgrade!”
