More couches burned near Gonzaga after Final Four win, but no arrests made

After Saturday’s buzzer-beater shot to send Gonzaga to the national championship game, neighborhoods around Spokane erupted into cheers. But a few hours later, the celebrations took a rowdy turn. Between four and six couches were burned near the university Sunday night, said Brian Schaeffer, Spokane fire chief.

Fire destroys Soap Lake church

The fire is out, but Grant County Fire District 7 Chief Kirk Sheppard says the House of Prayer Slavic Baptist Church is a total loss. Sheppard says no one was hurt. The cause of the blaze remains unknown. However, Sheppard says he was told by witnesses who initially reported that fire that the blaze appeared to have started in the rear of the building.

Fire intentionally set at new Seattle construction building, estimated loss is $3 million

The Seattle Fire Department says a fire that broke out early Saturday morning at a new construction building in South Seattle was intentionally set. Just after 3 a.m. Saturday, crews responded to reports of smoke and flames from a mid-rise new construction building at the 2000 block of Rainier Ave. S.

Apparatus Spotlight: Coppell (TX) Fire Department’s 2019 Pierce Velocity Ascendant Aerial

Quint 124 was placed into service on January 15, 2020, with the Coppell (TX) Fire Department (CFD).

This quint is currently housed at Station 3 and will move to Station 4 when this new station goes online later this year. The cab/chassis is the Velocity model with TAK-4 Independent Front Suspension System.

Seating for five is provided as well as are two rear-facing cabinets on each side of the crew area. Another rear facing cabinet is mounted on top of the engine tunnel. The cab and body are constructed of aluminum, and hinged compartment doors are part of the body package. The truck is powered by a Cummins X 12 500-hp engine and an Allison 5th-Generation EVS 4500 transmission with six speeds and push-button shifter. The Pierce Command Zone Advanced Electronics & Control System with WiFi headlines the electrical system on the truck. A Harrison MSV six-kW generator is mounted at the front of the turntable.



The apparatus has a Hale QMAX-200 single stage, 2,000-gpm pump (mid-ship) and a 480-gallon UPF poly tank. Foam capabilities are provided by a FoamPro 2020 Foam System and a 20-gallon cell. Foam is plumbed to the front discharge, the three crosslays, and the 2½-inch discharge on the pump panel. Anchorage Middletown (KY) Fire & EMS Purchases Four E-ONE Rescue Pumpers, One HR 100 Aerial

E-ONE®, a subsidiary of REV Group® and a leading manufacturer of fire apparatus, is pleased to announce that Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS of Louisville, Kentucky, has selected E-ONE and its authorized dealer, Vogelpohl Fire Equipment, to provide the department with four Custom Rescue Pumpers and one HR 100™ aerial.

Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS is now the third largest fire department in Kentucky, having merged with three other departments in 2019. The five new E-ONE fire apparatus will be replacement vehicles for its fleet.
