Jackson (TN) Fire Department Christens Engine 53, Truck 5

The Jackson (TN) Fire Department’s Station 5 recently held a push-in ceremony for Engine 53 and Truck 5. Jackson Mayor Scott Conger radioed the trucks into service.

San Pablo (CA) to Christen Fire Station 70

Following a 32-year wait, San Pablo (CA) is getting a new fire station.

According to a report on sfbayca.com, Fire Station 70 will be put into service by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District at a ceremony tomorrow, April 13, at the station site.

The report noted that the station will be dedicated to the two district firefighters—Matt Burton and Scott Desmond—who were killed attempting to rescue a couple trapped in their burning San Pablo home 14 years ago.

The district broke ground in April 2019 for the $13.5 million, 15,000-square-foot station on a vacant lot 3 miles from the site of the tragic house fire.

New Fire Station Could Be Coming to Fairfax County (VA)

According to a report on localdvm.com, while still in the preliminary stages, a new fire station and homeless shelter could be coming to Fairfax County (VA).

The current Penn Daw fire station in Fairfax County needs major renovations and has “outlived its intended life cycle.”

The former site of the Hybla Valley Nursery on Beacon Hill Road could become a brand-new station. While the Eleanor Kennedy Shelter would be co-located with the proposed station. The report noted that the shelter’s current building is prohibited from renovation due to the building’s historic status.

The county wants to co-locate the shelter with the station to create a new building, the report said. The plan’s initial phase will conclude within six to nine months.
