Belmar (NJ) Goodwill Hose Co. Welcomes Fire Apparatus

Belmar’s Goodwill Hose Co. has welcomed a 2018 Seagrave fire truck, reports TAP Into Belmar.

Firefighter training is currently under way while the fire truck has been put into service. Last summer, the borough approved a $525,000 bond ordinance to finance the purchase of the truck.

The new 24-foot-long pumper is equipped with a 750-gallon water tank and has a 1,500-gallon-per-minute pumping capacity. It is replacing a 31-year-old engine truck purchased from the Middletown Fire Department 10 years ago.

The borough’s last purchase of an engine truck was in 2002 and it received a grant in 2008 to acquire Volunteer Hook and Ladder Co.’s ladder truck.

New, Fully Equipped Toyne Pumper Arrives at the Endicott (NY) Fire Department

In the Village of Endicott, a vibrant community in southern New York, the local fire department received a fully customized pumper built by Toyne, Inc., in Breda, Iowa. This is Endicott Fire Department’s (EFD’s) first apparatus from Toyne and takes up the mantle of Engine 25-11 that has been in service since 1988. With the addition of the new apparatus, the department can bolster its firefighting and emergency response capabilities.

Established in 1912, the EFD has served its community for over a century. Today, the department staffs 21 paid professional firefighters on call 24/7. Responding to fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, natural disasters, and other emergencies, the department continually looks to provide the highest quality services possible. Their Toyne Tailored Apparatus will help them achieve that goal.

The first official call that the Toyne Pumper responded to was one of remembrance: participating in a parade to honor a local community member who was a dear friend of the area’s first responders and who had succumbed to COVID-19. Now, back at the station, the new Engine 25-11 stands by, ready to take other calls in the community.

“It has been a pleasure to work with these dedicated firefighters,” said Mike Schwabe, President of Toyne, Inc. “This pumper is ready for action and built to serve the Endicott Fire Department for years to come.”

EFD’s Toyne Pumper is mounted on a four-door Freightliner SD114 chassis. Ensuring a speedy response time, a 450-horsepower Detroit DD13 engine and an Allison 4,000 EVS transmission were selected for the powertrain.

The pumper body was stall-built and constructed with bolted painted stainless steel. Designs called for a wide range of different equipment storage options, including painted stainless steel swing-out doors, hydraulic ladder rack, upper body coffin compartments, and space for up to 12 SCBA bottles in the wheel wells. Toyne also installed custom slide-out shelving and tools boards.

This apparatus is ready to respond with its 800-gallon UPF tank, 1,500 gallon-per-minute Hale Qmax pump, and Foam Pro 1600 Class-A foam system. Monitoring these key hardware pieces is an ICI SL Plus tank gauge and Fire Research Pump Boss pressure governor.

Getting water where it needs to go, the pumper’s left side has pipping for two 2.5-inch discharges, a 2.5-inch intake, and a master intake. There is piping for a 2.5-inch discharge, 4-inch discharge, and a master intake on the opposite side. An additional 1.75-inch discharge point was fitted to the front bumper. Toyne also pre-piped the apparatus for a monitor.

Lighting the way to an emergency is an array of emergency lights such as a 46-inch FireTech HiViz LED brow light and Whelen warning lights. Once at the scene, the apparatus

Onalaska (WI) Fire Department Adds New Fire truck

According to a report from News8000, the Onalaska (WI) Fire Department (OFD) has added a new truck to its fleet after more than two years of planning. It will be the first-out truck to home and business fires.

The new addition will help provide resources as Onalaska continues to grow.

OFD Chief Troy Gudie says the truck’s big advantage is its maneuverability with the single axle. Also, its top-mount ladder allows the crew a quick setup. It can deliver as much as 1,000 gallons of water per minute.

OFD members will train with the truck over the next three weeks before it is put into service.

North Little Rock (AR) Opens First New Fire Station Since 2001

According to a report from Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette, the North Little Rock (AR) Fire Department (NLRFD) formally opened its first fire station in the city since 2001 on Thursday.

The Levy neighborhood’s new station has been in the planning and development stages since 2017 and features a decontamination room, positive pressure ventilation, a sprinkler system, and a “safe room” that is rated to withstand a Category 4 storm. IT will also provide secondary response crews to almost every other fire district in the city.

Engine 6 and Rescue 6, the busiest crews in the city, will be housed at the station.

Rescue 6 (formerly Rescue 5) is one of the just two companies in North Little Rock that carries enhanced extraction and rescue equipment to help people involved in emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents.
