Scott Martin, a 12-year veteran with the Buffalo Fire Department, was fired from his job earlier this year because he tested positive for marijuana.
Martin doesn't deny using marijuana.
The 37-year-old firefighter who served with the Air Force in Iraq and Afghanistan said he is a certified medical marijuana patient who uses cannabis to treat post-traumatic stress disorder and back pain and that cannabis has greatly improved his health and well-being.

Fire crews found one person dead in a blaze at a five-story senior housing building in Seattle’s Lower Queen Anne neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.
Fire crews responded to the blaze in the 300 block of West Roy Street around 3:15 p.m., the Seattle Fire Department said on Twitter. A few minutes later, the department reported the fire had been extinguished and had been contained to one apartment unit.

Firefighters say one person was forced out of their home after a fire on Tuesday afternoon in central Vancouver.
At around 12:15 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 9312 Northeast 11th Street. The first engine arrived four minutes after the call went out and reported fire coming from a bedroom window at the back of a single-story home.

The city of Seattle will be clearing out a homeless camp on Seattle's Capitol Hill after a series of fires broke out there. Campers at Broadway Hill Park have been ordered to move out by Wednesday. The city's Parks and Recreation Department posted notices at the park on Monday. City officials say they had to take action after 10 fires broke out at the encampment over the past six months.

Moses Lake firefighters responded at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday to fires involving two sheds in the 3000 block of Lakeshore Drive.
The blaze was caused by someone burning weeds, said Moses Lake Fire Department Chief Brett Bastian. The flames got away from them, burning a fence, a shed and a shed on the neighboring property.
