Starting Thursday, all parts of unincorporated King County will be placed under a fire safety burn ban, county Fire Marshal Chris Ricketts announced Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch from Friday afternoon through Monday evening, citing possibly record-breaking heat across much of western Washington.

The Spokane Fire Department has ruled that Tuesday’s wildfire just off Division was human-caused.
Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said it is not clear if the fire was accidental or set intentionally.
The fire, which burned about three acres, caused more than $100,000 worth of damage to both nearby homes and Ferraro’s Restaurant.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said more than 80 units responded to the beachfront condo near 88th Street and Collins Avenue just north of Miami Beach around 2 a.

VIDEO: Virginia Beach investigators have not released the cause of a massive fire that destroyed a multi-million dollar home on McCullough Lane.
Firefighters faced several challenges, including its remote location across the water from First Landing State Park. There are only two fire hydrants in that area.

PHOTOS: Tiffany Hyde has been an emergency room nurse for 31 years, almost 13 of those at Williamson Medical Center. She also taught nursing and emergency medical services (EMS) courses at Ravenwood High School for eight years.
