The Southport Board of Aldermen has agreed to accept the donation of a 75-foot ladder tower truck, reports The State Port Pilot.

The donation of the 2015 Pierce Velocity Aerial Scope truck was made by an individual who wishes to remain anonymous. The truck will replace the department’s current 50-foot ladder truck.

The new truck will be able to fit into places where the department’s existing 101-foot ladder truck cannot be used, due to blocked access from trees.

The finishing touches are being put on a new fire station for Mount Pleasant, reports WCSC 5.

The new $6MM fire station will be the most up-to-date facility of the seven fire stations in Mount Pleasant. The fire station will have fire equipment that includes search and rescue, fire hose deployment, ground ladder training, and confined space and technical rescue training.

The fire station has a new three-apparatus bay for two fire trucks and one Battalion Chief vehicle, 11 sleeping rooms, a brand-new fitness center, and additional office space for Battalion Chiefs and other staff.

According to a report from Discover Westman, the Killarney-Turtle Mountain Fire Department (KTMFD) in Manitoba, Canada, may soon gets its much desired brush truck from a conditional grant from the province for close to $145,000.

Chief Administrative Officer Karen Patterson said the municipality looked at all the KTMFD’s needs when it was applying for the Fire Protection Grant through the Manitoba Government. The brush truck was at the top of the list.

The municipality is also looking at upgrading their 1969 water tanker sometime in the future. Patterson said the new brush truck will complement the new water truck in fighting grass fires once they’re both purchased.

At the time of the grant application, the new truck was approximately just under the $145,000. However, Patterson said that, in the time since the pre-Christmas quote, prices have risen, so the municipality may come up short. The municipality is expecting the new truck to be purchased within the next few weeks, hopefully by the end of March.

A total of $5 Million of eligible funding was awarded by the Province of Manitoba through the Fire Protection Grant. However, the province also received $18 million in applications. As a result, not all grant applications will receive funding.

Truck 43 began its service life in the spring of 2019 with Dallas (TX) Fire-Rescue (DFR). The cab/chassis are the Velocity model (tandem aerial-big block) with the TAK-4 Independent Front Suspension System and Ascendant body.

Seats five, and two emergency medical service (EMS) cabinets adorn each wall of the cab behind the driver’s seat. The EMS cabinets are accessible from the exterior through hinged doors between the cab doors. The cab and body are constructed of stainless steel with side roll and frontal impact protection, and AMDOR roll-up compartment doors as well as hinged compartment doors are part of the body package.

Self-contained breathing apparatus bottle storage is located above the rear wheel wells on each side of the body. The Pierce Command Zone advanced electronic and control system with WiFi headlines the truck’s electrical system.

The truck is powered by a Cummins X15 600-hp engine and an Allison fifth-generation   4500 EVS transm

A Seattle firefighter is facing cyberstalking and identity theft charges after being accused of using a colleague's email account to send threatening messages to Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant. According to court documents, Andrew Finseth, 42, told investigators that his goal in writing the threatening messages to the council member was to get a fellow firefighter in trouble.
