Firefighters in Geneva, IL, expect to be responding with a brand new quint next year after alderman gave approval to spend up to $1.2 million on the new apparatus, according to a report in the Daily Herald.

The new apparatus will be a Pierce Enforcer 110-foot PUC quint platform aerial and will replace a 1994 aerial that had fallen into disrepair, the paper reported.

The purchase had been delayed a year by the city alderman who were concerned the corona virus pandemic would adversely affect finances, according the Daily Herald.

The apparatus is expected to be delivered sometime in mid 2022 with a build time of 12 to 14 months.

Franklin County Deputies say Franklin County Fire District 5 crews responded to a structure fire in the 4000 block of West Sagemoore Road early Friday morning (Feb. 19). The fire, about two miles northwest of the Country Mercantile (located on Highway 395) was contained but not before it consumed a number of hay bales, and killed four goats who were in the shed.

A fire is under investigation at Western Berks Ambulance (PA) station. It’s believed the fire started inside the engine compartment of one of the ambulances, WFMZ reports.

Multiple crews from the surrounding Spring Township-area responded to the two-alarm fire.

Michael Leifer, president of the Western Berks Ambulance Association, told the station one person was sent to the hospital with possible smoke inhalation due to an asthma issue.

The station remains functional, and officials said they have the resources to respond to emergency calls. Two other ambulances are being checked for damage.

The Bexar-Bulverde Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) responded to the fire first, which was reported at the Cortland View apartment complex off TPC Parkway around 1 p.m. Bexar-Bulverde VFD Chief Jerry Bialick said his crews immediately began to investigate and could smell smoke.
