Construction is well underway for Centre Hall Fire Company, reports StateCollege.com.

The 14,000-square-foot facility features eight equipment bays, a large meeting room, a fully equipped kitchen and a firemen’s lounge.

The company expects to take possession of the building in late April or early May of this year, with a public open house planned for June 19.

The original plans for the building were for a two-story building, but were changed to a single-story design. The new station is the result of nearly 11 years of planning and fundraising.

Residents voted against spending up to $85,000 that would have gone towards financing a $1.2 million fire and emergency operations center, reports The Barre Montpelier Times Argus.

Voters did approve the $105,297 budget for the fire department and $17,850 for the fire department’s truck replacement fund.

Town residents received an anonymous mailer that includes false information about Westmoreland’s proposed fire station, reports SentinelSource.com.

A section of the mailer titled “Facts about the Fire House Fraud” claimed the fire station will cost $5 million. A fire official described the mailer as “disrespectful.” The total cost of the new station, including interest on the $2.27 million bond that would pay for it, would not exceed $2,893,500.

The current station was built in 1954 and has inadequate space for equipment and cannot accommodate certain health and safety protocols.

The proposed 6,400 square-foot station would be built on town-owned land behind town hall.

The fire department posted to Facebook, “We will be at the Transfer Station today and at the current FD for your questions. This project has been the culmative work of 6 years from the original FD building committee to the Town official FD Building Committee that was created in 2018. 4 townspeople and 4 firefighters worked together with volunteers in the building industry to bring you this proposal. The board of Selectman do support this warrant article for the town. Please if you have questions, feel free to come and talk with us Today.”

According to a report from Wyoming News Now, locals gathered at Archer Parkway in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the groundbreaking of Laramie County Fire District One’s (LCFD1’s) new fire station, which will provide much needed fire and medical services and protection to the eastern areas of the county.

The $2.1 million project is expected to open in September 2021.

Cheyenne’s Chamber of Commerce personnel were also present as well as LCFD1 staff. The project was approved by taxpayers in 2017 as part of a sixth penny ballot vote.

LCFD1 Chief Darrick Mittlestadt said that the department will assign some equipment and trucks to the new station. He also said that the department needs more volunteers and would like to have at least two members on duty at all times.

According to a report from The Salisbury Post, the Salisbury (NC) Fire Department (SFD) will debut its new Fire Station No. 6, the Monroe and Isler Fire Station, to the public on Sunday.

A virtual “Open House” link is also available at salisburync.gov/Fire. Here, “attendees” can tour the new fire station online and view the live dedication beginning at 2 p.m.

Located at 310 Cedar Springs Road, the station is dedicated to Justin Monroe and Victor Isler, two SFD members who died in the line of duty in 2008. Both members’ families will be present at the dedication and receive an in-person tour of the facility.

Planning for the station began in 2017. Its main purpose is to serve the entire city of Salisbury, although its primary goal is to cover its own fire response district: the areas south of the Mid Carolina Airport, which includes Camp Road, Long Meadow Drive, Grace Church Road, Airport Road, and the neighborhoods of Stoney Brook, Kings Forrest, Matika Village, Little Acres, Weatherstone, and the Long Meadow Industrial Park.

The facility also houses a training wing, the hazmat team, and the fire staff.

To facilitate construction, the SFD pointed to six acres of undeveloped property along Cedar Springs Road, west of U.S. 29 South. This site provides access to every main road to aid in a timely emergency response, while the land offers space for the fire station as well as a significant natural buffer.
