The city of Seattle will be clearing out a homeless camp on Seattle's Capitol Hill after a series of fires broke out there. Campers at Broadway Hill Park have been ordered to move out by Wednesday. The city's Parks and Recreation Department posted notices at the park on Monday. City officials say they had to take action after 10 fires broke out at the encampment over the past six months.

Moses Lake firefighters responded at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday to fires involving two sheds in the 3000 block of Lakeshore Drive. The blaze was caused by someone burning weeds, said Moses Lake Fire Department Chief Brett Bastian. The flames got away from them, burning a fence, a shed and a shed on the neighboring property.

Both the West Bend and Town of Sheboygan fire departments recently refurbished vintage fire trucks, reports WTMJ-TV Milwaukee.

The West Bend Fire Department recently refurbished a 1929 Model Ford A fire truck. The Town of Sheboygan recently acquired a vintage 1952 International transport fire truck.

Fire Chief Bob Tutko proposed leasing a new fire truck but was meant with push back from officials, reports Effingham Daily News.

The replacement was planned for 2018, but was delayed because the fire chief retired. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, the purchase was delayed again.

The proposed fire engine will cost about $650,000, spread out over a five-year lease. The engine is sold by fire truck manufacturer E-ONE and was custom designed by a committee of Effingham firefighters. The cost makes some city officials uneasy amid ongoing discussion about the city’s mounting fire and police pension payments.

Harrison Hot Springs council unanimously approved purchasing a pumper truck that would partially be paid for through fire department reserve funds, reports BC Local News.

The 2022 fire truck would come from Winnipeg-based Fort Garry Fire Trucks at the coast of approximately $675,000, taxes included. A $302,000 down payment was approved for this year’s budget cycle with the remainder upon the chassis arriving at the manufacturer.

The village’s fire department consists of 20 paid-on-call firefighters providing various emergency services.
