Auburn: Wrong-way driver kills another driver in fiery crash along SR-18

Washington tests ShakeAlert warnings with mixed results

Washington took a big step Thursday toward a long-discussed earthquake early warning system by sending test alerts to mobile phones, but many people didn’t receive the messages. “This is why we test, so we have an idea of what we need to work on, what improvements we need to make,” said Maximilian Dixon, who heads geologic hazards for the state emergency management division.

Feds seize 460,000 counterfeit N-95 masks heading to Seattle area

More than 460,000 counterfeit 3M N-95 surgical masks that were on their way to Puget Sound area first responders were intercepted by federal investigators, Homeland Security officials said. The masks are a critical tool used by health care providers and first responders to protect themselves from the spread of COVID-19 and other airborne dangers.

Marco Island (FL) Officials Move Forward with Fire Station Construction

The city of Marco Island plans to replace Fire Station 50 on the City Hall campus with a new fire station and emergency center, reports marco eagle.

City officials approved a permit for the proposed building to exceed the city’s 35-foot height limit by 3.5 feet. The new station will be approximately 22,366 square feet with administrative offices, meeting rooms, sleeping quarters and bays for the equipment, according to a city staff report. It is estimated to cost more than $10.4 million and as much as $11.7 million, according to a cost opinion made by BSSW Architects.

Watertown (NY) Fire Apparatus Auctioned

The winning bid for a Watertown fire truck came in at $25,900, reports WWNY-TV.

A fire official said the truck’s value is between $25,000 to $35,000.

Watertown City Council does have the right to reject the auction price.
